How can I edit a Microsoft Word document?

You will need Microsoft Word installed on your PC or MAC to edit a Word document. If you do not have Microsoft Word, you can sign up free with a Microsoft 365 account to open and edit this document. However, there are some limitations on the free version, as the header, footer, and checkboxes will not be visible, and the page looks a little different (See screenshot below). Still, materially there will not be any difference. For Microsoft 365 online version, you can print to PDF to see how the document would look in printing. To do so, click on File> Print> Print this document> Open PDF. You do not have to worry about all these if you own a Microsoft Word license.

What should I do if the hyperlink in the document is broken or not clickable?

Sometimes, you will face the issue that the hyperlink in the document is broken, and it does not allow you to click. To navigate the broken link, right-click on the ANCHOR TEXT and click "Copy Hyperlink," then paste this link to the browser to open. Some links will take you to Premium blogs, so you must be a Premium or Ultimate member to get full access.

How can I fix missing or incorrectly displaying checkboxes and hyperlink issues?

Due to your computer settings, you may not be able to see checkboxes and hyperlinks properly on your Word document. If you have Windows PC, open a Word document and click on "File"> Options> Advanced> Show document content> Uncheck box "Show field codes instead of their values"> OK. Alternatively, Pressing ALT+F9 (or possibly ALT+Fn+F9) will toggle the display of field codes or values. Close and reopen the document.

If you have MAC, open the word document and click on "File"> Preferences> Click on "View" under "Authoring and Proofing Tools"> Show in document> View> Uncheck box "Field codes instead of values." Alternatively, Pressing OPT+F9 (or possibly OPT+Fn+F9) will toggle the display of field codes or values. Close and reopen the document.

What are those yellow highlighted text with dotted lines in the document?

The text with yellow highlights is for only instructions and will not appear when you print the document. These fields are for writing dates and signing. You may find some instructions with yellow highlighted text around a document that will not appear in print.

What should I do if the document does not open and shows errors?

You may receive errors such as the one below few examples, and in most cases, Microsoft stops allowing you to access documents and gives errors because a Microsoft software update is pending to install. Please restart your PC or MAC after updating the software. See other typical solutions below. Also, please check if your PC or MAC has internal issues that neither Microsoft nor we can resolve. If the issue does not resolve, contact us, and we will assist.
